67 Days of Prayer: Day 9. “The Kingdom is the Lord’s”

Monday, June 4. Day 9 of 67 Days of Prayer

Today we are praying for the following districts:

  • Tennessee State House District 25- Currently represented by Cameron Sexton
  • Tennessee State House District 26 – Currently represented by Gerald McCormick
  • Tennessee State House District 27 – Currently represented by Patsy Hazlewood
  • Tennessee State Senate District  9 – Currently represented by Mike Bell

Our call to Prayer

For the kingdom is the LORD’S: and he is the governor among the nations. Psalms 22.28

Rare is the person who does not succumb in some way to coveting. If we’re honest, we have all violated the 10th Commandment. Politicians are subject to the same pressure we are. Like us, they want. They covet holding onto their seats. They covet respect. And they deserve it, in their minds, because they put everything on the line to run for office so they could do good.

As our leaders govern from Nashville, it is so easy to want to continue in power that they forget that Tennessee – the Kingdom they assist in governing – is the Lord’s.

Our call to prayer today is that our leaders statewide would remember that Tennessee is the Lord’s.

A Prayer for Day 9 of 67 Days of Prayer

Lord, Your name is known in Cumberland, Van Buren, Putnam, Hamilton, Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monro, and Polk Counties . Thank You for the strong Christian heritage You have given to Your people in these areas.

Lord, various leaders in our history have understood that this state belong’s to you. You are the King of this Kingdom. Lord, many citizens and leaders have forgotten that You rule. We have forgotten that you lovingly protect us, that you pour blessings on us, and that You have guided us. Yet not all have forgotten. Christians across this state, flawed as they are, at all levels of the citizenry and government remember what you have done Lord.

Father, we ask that for those of us who do not remember that You are King that you would make this clear. Attune our hearts to the Kingdom. Attune our hearts to Your law – write it on our hearts.

Once more we ask: Father, would You cause a spirit of prayer to well up within the citizenry of Tennessee? Would You cause our state to once more seek Your face? Would you cause us to seek Your will as we vote – but not just in voting Lord, but in our daily lives? Would You move on our hearts and make our homes places of spiritual accountability?

Amen.
